Belgium and International

Brussels is a metropolis open to the world owing to its status as a European capital, its multi-cultural nature and its central position in the heart of the large urban region of North-West Europe.

In this context, perspective.brussels attaches great importance to cooperation beyond the confines of the Brussels-Capital Region, at the metropolitan, Belgian, European and international levels.

Perspective has therefore developed a European and international strategy which reflects the ambitions and priorities shared by the teams and which supports their tasks and Perspective's missions.
This strategy aims to operationalise mission 6 of Perspective, which consists of : ‘ensuring the representation and integration of the Region at metropolitan, national, European and international levels’.

    This mission has 4 priorities:

    1. Ensuring the active presence and promotion of the interests of the Brussels-Capital Region in European bodies and European and international networks.
    2. Establishing cooperation and projects with other cities and regions
    3. Strengthen metropolitan and inter-regional cooperation with Flanders and Wallonia in terms of regional planning.
    4. Support: strengthening expertise, knowledge, capitalisation and communication within Perspective

In order to fulfil its mission as effectively as possible while pursuing its priorities, Perspective carries out various European and international actions. These include official representation at European institutions, participation in European and international projects, and monitoring European regulations and policies relating to spatial planning.
Perspective also promotes exchanges and cooperation with other European cities and regions, in particular with the Eurodelta territories.

Finally, Perspective runs the PlanningMatters platform. This platform brings together European urban planning agencies to encourage dialogue between experts on urban issues and to exchange tools and practices.
